Protect the address
Give guests a place name and neighborhood, such as ‘our place in Riverside’, in the venue field. Guests can see that name before replying. On a new PartyWelcome invitation, the exact address waits until a guest replies unless you choose to show it sooner. Anyone with the guest link can open the invitation, and someone who has seen the address can forward it. Keep door and access codes off the public page.
Make the door obvious
Apartment numbers, call-box names, side entrances, shoe requests, and parking restrictions belong in the event details, not in a last-minute group text. Add the nearest cross street, where guests should park, and any gate or call-box code they will need. New homes are hard to find, so a note such as ‘the gray door beside the blue mailbox’ saves your phone from ringing all afternoon.
Choose food that can wait
Drop-in parties need food that stays good across the whole window, so skip anything that wilts or congeals in the first half hour. Plan on roughly six bites per person per hour and expect about a third of guests to be eating at any moment, so refill small trays instead of setting everything out at once. Put drinks in one spot with a labeled trash and recycling bin nearby so you are not collecting cups all evening.
Set the house up for traffic
Clear a coat and shoe area near the door, stock the bathroom before guests arrive, and move fragile unpacked boxes into a closed room. New homes come with hazards guests do not know about: tape loose cords, block off unfinished stairs, and check that the bathroom door actually locks. If the yard or balcony is part of the plan, check the lighting and railings first.
Give tours without guiding all day
Announce a casual tour once an hour rather than guiding people one at a time, and let the rest of the time be conversation. Leave yourself time to sit down with friends between tours. Accept help when guests offer it, especially with dishes at the end.
