Separate arrival from dinner
Give guests a short arrival window and say when you expect to sit down. That makes late arrivals easier to manage without sounding strict.
Ask the right food question
Ask about allergies and dietary restrictions privately. Do not ask guests to explain medical details to the full guest list.
Finish one hour early
Use the final hour for reheating, setting out drinks, and changing clothes. A menu that requires constant last-minute work is the wrong menu for the host.
