Baby shower

How to host a baby shower

A good baby shower gives the parents time with the people who care about them. Start with the guest list and schedule. The theme can wait.

Ask the parents first

Confirm who they want invited, whether children and partners are welcome, how they feel about games, and how they want the registry handled. This conversation prevents most awkward surprises.

  • Preferred date and two backup dates
  • Guest-list size and any must-invite relatives
  • At-home, restaurant, park, or virtual gathering
  • Food restrictions and accessibility needs
  • Registry links, no-gift wording, or a group-gift plan

Choose a schedule people can follow

Two to three hours is enough for most showers. Put food early, keep organized activities optional, and leave room for conversation. If gifts will be opened, say so only when it helps guests plan their time.

Put useful details in the invitation

Include the guest of honor, date, start and end time, area, RSVP deadline, host contact, registry, and anything guests should bring. PartyWelcome can keep the street address hidden until someone replies.
